How about if we each send messages to all of our PPMD friends, our relatives and our friends once Paul has the final letter and we all concentrate on four talk shows for now plus I would like to concentrate also on the 3 people that are already supporting MD to see if they would take it further.
If all we have for them is snail mail addresses we send two letters to each a day. If we have faxes and/or emails we also each send two a day.
How about if we concentrate on:

For Montell, this is either his last season or he is already done. Then playing reruns until next year. Some new younger version of Montell will be taking over in 2009.

Only problem with current sports players is that they can only help the charity of their sport or their own personal charity(s). For example, the NFL helps with United Way as one of their charities, so the players can help United Way. Only way we can get an athlete to support another cause, like PPMD, is to get one that is retired.
Maybe, getting our message into the hands of the sports agents is an idea as well. The agent can then try and pursuade his new young rookie to start a charity that benefits PPMD. It would be that players personal charity.
Scott Boras is a big time agent in Baseball...Leigh Steinberg (was) and Tom Condon (is) in Football....
Hey Gang,
I am jumping back in on this late, but did want to say something about NFL players who will support us. Well, i have one! He is Andrew Whitworth with the Cincinnati Bengals, yes an Ohio team (a natural fit I think!). He is from my home town and through contacts, I talked to him and he is willing to help out. I have to call his mom as my emails to him (he gave me his email) are going to spam I think. He told me he would do whatever we needed him to do. The problem is WHAT IS THAT???
For example, Ryan Lochte at the olympics is supporting us, but I never heard about that on the Olympics. how can we use Ryan and Andrew for awareness and fundraising? I know this is a bit off the topic of letter, but I am not so sure about the NFL players only supporting the United Way...
I was looking at the Oprah submission form and the letter can only be a maximum of 2000 characters. Will the letter be under 2000 characters? Is this the only place we have to submit the letters to her show or is there another avenue?
With Maury I am not so sure this is a topic he would even consider for his show. Every time I have tuned into that show the only topic I have seen involves paternity tests and cheating partners.
lori, i only used the united way as an example as it is an nfl supported charity. the nfl has others that i didn't use in my example.
i am involved in a charity event in san diego...an ex nfl player is one of our board members....he can't get current nfl players to appear at our event because it is not their personal charity or an nfl sponsored charity.
lets take an ex charger, current saint, for example. drew brees has the Brees Dream Foundation...his personal charity that provides care, education and opportunities for children facing adversity. this is his personal charity that he created so that he could have tax right offs and help children....but, mostly, tax right offs (honestly, right?). outside of his own events, he can't make appearances for any other events other than nfl sponsored events.
so, my point is when it comes to professional athletes, we to find some young blood to create an organization in their name to support us (ppmd). say, using LSU as a example, The Demarcus Russell Foundation...though we may be too late for him.
if your andrew can pull it off, then fantastic. since you do have contact with him and his family, maybe you can find out more from him what he can and can't do. my assumption is he can have his own personal charity that suports ppmd.

The current draft is 3524 characters. I'll do my best to chop it down. It will definitely be published next weekend.
