Description: Waiting On The Sun is an original, full-length play written by two-time Emmy Award-winner Wayne J. Keeley.
The moving story is about a college student afflicted with Becker Muscular Dystrophy, a progressive, terminal, muscle-wasting disease. Justin, early twenties, is confined to a motorized wheelchair. He has very little mobility in his arms or his legs. His oft-flaky, rapper roommate, Zack, treats him to a special birthday present: a night with an exotic dancer, Tiffany.
The play was inspired by an actual young man with Becker Muscular Dystrophy. Its purpose is threefold: 1) to provide entertainment; 2) to educate the public about individuals with chronic or terminal illness and/or disability; and 3) to raise awareness of this tragic disease. A Question and Answer (Q&A) session is to follow the play and will feature discussions about the many issues raised in the production.
The play is being produced on behalf of The Wyatt Foundation. The Wyatt Foundation, formed to raise awareness about Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophies, and to provide support and services to individuals affected by chronic and terminal illnesses, intends to donate profits to muscular dystrophy research.
The play features music by Doug Wahlberg.
