INAUGURAL CAIRNS UKULELE FESTIVAL JULY 2-4 2010
The Cairns Ukulele Festival have adopted Duchenne Foundation. Playing on the program will be Sydney geneticist, Peter Taylor, whose work encompasses State and national diagnostics for Duchenne patients in NSW.
DF will launch a CD of Ukulele music at the festival. The CD is the brainchild of the Ukulele Underground. It will feature artists from across the globe.The online forum, which boasts more than 18,000 members, is led by Chicago musician Narsico Lobo, who will feature on the CD along with several artists. CD's will be available at the festival and on our website as the proceeds from all sales have been donated to DF.
UKULELE ART AUCTION OPENS JUNE 25
Duchenne Foundation in conjunction with the Cairns Music Club are auctioning painted ukuleles to raise funds for Australian research. Around 50 Ukes painted by national Illustrators and local artists will be up for silent tender at the Gallery after the official opening Friday June 25th. or by phone or email and placed in the tender boxes on the bidder's behalf. Selected ukes will sell on ebay. More info later. Photos will be posted on our website and we plan on producing a catalogue for sale.
RAFFLE: SIGNED UKULELE FROM HAWAII
Lastly we are privileged to be raffling Jake Shimabukuro’s brand new, signed MIGM Ukulele, released in May. Tickets can only be purchased at the festival program on Day 2, Cairns Esplanade. NB you must be present at 3.30pm to claim the prize. Tickets for sale all day on Saturday and can be pre-sold.
